Day 35 - Colorado's Beautiful Skies

Welcome to High School Football 2008
But who could be unhappy spending four hours in this gorgeous place, under these skies and getting exercise running the sidelines (you didn't think I'd just SIT there during the game, did you now?)
First sky photo is unretouched - just cropped. Second has used the Picassa 'I feel lucky' button - see the difference? Which do you prefer?

Day 33 - Focus on the Family

For its fans and its non-fans - here is a photo of one of my neighbors - Focus on the Family. I've never been and I really would like to tour it before we leave here. Supposedly the children's areas is very cool - slides and an old-fashioned ice cream parlor (Whit's End for those who've heard the 'Adventures in Odyssey' radio series) where you can hold birthday parties and etc.

It's been an unhappy day in my neighborhood :(
So thought I'd post this photo from last Saturday to remind myself that I do live in a beautiful place.

Day 30 - Parachutes USAF Academy

One of the cool things about living near the United States Air Force Academy is watching some of the training scenarios. One of my favorites is when the little planes go up and the cadets parachute down. I'll get some better photos when I'm on the Academy grounds next. These are taken from a Shopping Center near my house . . . .

DAY 29 - Backyard Pond

We've basically ignored the pond this year and the Koi are growing better than ever! I'll keep trying to capture a photo of the dragonfly I see out there every time I'm without my camera :)

Day 26 Little Wild Bunny

Took DH to the doctor today and caught this cute little guy (girl?) scampering in the flowers when we came out. Hope he found his way back home

Day 25 - View from my window

Maybe this has something to do with my mood? I really love the rain and I know we need it! But it can be depressing to look out hour after hour to this and more! And, we are under a Flash Flood Watch AGAIN. Hope people drive more carefully than they have been the last few days :( Lady drove into a group of cyclers last week . . . . . . seems here in the Springs drivers handle snow better than rain . . .

DAY 24 - Rainy Apsen Grove

It was absolutely POURING rain nearly all day and I had this idea to get photos of the rain - but this is what I got! It's a nice photo of the Aspen 'stand' in my front yard but you can't even tell it's raining. So, I promise you it's raining in Colorado Springs! We are even right now under a flash flood watch, so there, LOL

DAY 23 - Can you ID this bush?

This brave little bush comes back time after time and I can't tell what it is. Maybe it will finally flower this year and give me a better clue. Anyone have ideas from the leaves?

DAY 22 - School Physicals

Bad Mommy forgot about needing a school/sports physical so had to run up to the nearest urgent care and take care of that this AM. The skies were so nice, I wanted to save a memory of the clouds and blue sky from Colorado for future reference :)

DAY 21 Sammi the CEO

Sammi my CEO kitty - long suffering :)

As you've seen there is no place for any place in my office to move so today she made the best of things and just took her power nap in the little walkway I cleared to get into my office.

DAY 20 Rainy Afternoons

I've been trying to get a good photo of my favorite, Finn, for a few days. Today I'm just posting this one because he was all curled up sleeping most of the day on my daughter's bed. We've had about 4 cloudy, thunderstormy, rainy days and I think Finn has the right idea about how to spend rainy afternoons. . . . but because of what I showed you yesterday (oops!) I won't be taking any nice afternoon naps :)

DAY 18 / 365 Peterson Flight Line

Photos from the flight line at Peterson Air Force base. Jeff says the small planes are trainers or private planes owned by some of the military pilots. I shot these through our car window and it occurred to me that in these days of Threat level Orange, I was probably breaking some law. . . so here are some pretty pictures - hope they are still up tomorrow :)

DAY 17 / 365

Now, isn't that a pretty sky? Well, about 10 seconds before THIS photo got taken was the one i wanted taken buy may photographer couldn't get it moved fast en ouch. see, in this photo yo Shula be seeing small white glider planes pulling the Young airmen behind them and letting them float to land. IT very pretty and pratrioctic and my man behind the camera promises better production next time! So for now just enjoy my blue sky!

DAY 15 /365 - The Two Towers - CS style

This just stuck me as a strange juxtaposition (do I get points for using a 5 syllable word, LOL?). this is one of the oldest church buildings in Colorado Springs and right next to it is this weird antenna type tower. . . .
