DAY 75 - Snow Storm Very Beginning

Woke up to a sunny, beautiful day.
But, here came the storm and it started with a vengence. I tried to get a picture just as it started. Trust me, the snow was coming down so you could hardly see. But I couldn't capture it, sorry.

Here are a few white streaks for you, LOL, and I'll try again next time.

DAY 74 - mountain view

So much to be thankful for :)
Just a quick trip to the gas station in the morning - check out the gorgeous view. I'm telling ya, anyone that can look out at that in the morning and still be in a bad mood has some serious issues LOL

Day 73 - Mr. Bigg's

The store is called Mr. Biggs and is a huge Family Fun Business. I have never been there since my children are past the age, but there are go carts, arcade games and lots of other stuff. The neat thing (to me) is that there is actually a church that meets here on Sundays :) And the owner is frequently in the news for charitable things he does. At Christmas time (now) he has a 'free day' for low-income families to enjoy and does much more charity work.

Day 72 - The Criterium!

I've always thought this was a bicycle shop each time I drove by. This morning I looked it up on the internet and guess what? It's actually a Bike Race Track!

criterium, or crit, is a bike race held on a short course (usually less than 5 km), often run on closed-off city centre streets.

Collegiate cyclists take a tight downhill corner in theBoston Beanpot Criterium at Tufts University

Race length can be determined by a total time or a number of laps, in which case the number of remaining laps is calculated as the race progresses. Generally the event's duration (commonly one hour) is shorter than that of a traditional road race — which can last many hours, sometimes over the course of several days or even weeks, as in a Grand Tour. However, the average speed and intensity are appreciably higher. The winner is the first rider to cross the finish line without having been "lapped."

Events often have prizes (called primes, usually cash- pronounced "preems" ) for winning specific intermediate laps (for instance, every 10th lap). A bell is usually rung to announce to the riders that whoever wins the next lap, wins the prime.

Success in road criteria requires a mix of good technical skills — in particular, the ability to corner smoothly, while "holding your line" on the road, as well as rapidly and sharply — and riding safely with a large group on a short circuit and exceptional "sprint" ability to attack other riders and repeatedly accelerate hard from corners.

Criteria are relatively easy to organize and do not require a large amount of space. They are the most common type of bicycle racing in the continental United States. They are also gaining popularity as a format for Mountain Bike events.

DAY 71 - Snowblowers!

This is ONE of our neighbors who owns a snowblower. They LOVE to get them out at the first snow storm and are usually generous in doing MORE than just their own section of sidewalk. But this poor guy ended up doing his driveway THREE times this day because it kept coming down, LOL And in the winter, you should hear them.

DAY 70 - Signs of the times ?

Unfortunately, signs such as these guys are out holding have become more and more common around Colorado Springs. Currently these are for a Car Liquidation Sale and the Closing of our local Circuit City but almost each day there are one or more of these up - almost all for 'going out of business' sales . . . . . sad

DAY 69 - Gas Prices at Night

I know others have posted "Happy Signs" when the gas prices finally started down - this is the FIRST time during the recent 'crises' that I'd seen gas below $2/gallon. It was awesome!

DAY 68 - 1" - 2" of snow in Colorado Springs

Well, according to our weatherman, this is 1" - 2" of snow
I don't think so, LOL

Day 67 - Snow Storm - Colorado Springs Style

Another reason I love Colorado Springs :)
When we moved here, I was terrified of all the snow - thought I'd be housebound for weeks at a time! nope! I didn't get the morning picture I wanted. On Thursday I woke up to swirling snow! all over the ground, coming down steady - could barely see. Then at around noon I went out and shot the bottom picture - see how the snow is still about 2" thick on the car? It was like that all over the yard and all. By 4 PM - top photo - it's almost all gone. Not ALL of our snow storms are like this, but in the 4+ years we've lived here, this is typical :) Snowstorm in the AM - Sunshine in the PM - wow.

Day 66 - Colorado Springs Neighborhoods

When we found out we were moving to Colorado, our children all thought we'd be buying a farm, horses and all! They were very surprised to find that most houses in Colorado Springs are in Neighborhoods with very small lawn areas. Here are a few photos to give you an idea of the typical Colorado Springs Home area.

Day 64 - I won!

I'm not a real 'contest' person but I won the 'Secret Word Contest on eBay Radio last week and won a cute little eBay tote bag - filled with eBayana goodies - Griff even included a 'shooting star' pin which has been my goal to earn for several years :)

Day 63 - Try again :)

Sorry my friends - have had difficulty staying motivated to keep up the posts. Frankly, I don't get out much, LOL
so I had a talk with myself and decided maybe my 365 blog would better be called "365 Days in the Life of a Colorado Springs Ebayer"  LOL
I'll post outdoor pictures as I can but other days you'll all just get shots of my daily life :) These photos are of my assistant, Sammi. The reason the bottom one is blurry is that I had tied her up in my measuring tape (I was measuring clothing) and she was a twirling dervish trying to get untangled, LOL
Hope you enjoy and I will try again to post daily.

Day 62 - Pikes Peak

Earlier someone asked if the mountain in my photos was Pike's Peak so I did a little questioning and it is! So, this is my latest photo of Pike's Peak taken from Kirk's last football game.

Still had some repotting and grilling I wanted to do - so, Happy Snow Day :)

DAY 60 - My view lately, LOL

I've been a bit remiss in posting scenery photos lately - here's my excuse, LOL. I'm overrun with consignment inventory to list for the Christmas selling season on eBay! Whew!

DAY 59 - Two colored Trees

I know there are lots of great fall pictures but I have a special love of these when there are two or three colors in one tree. I keep trying to capture one with three but so far this is my best catch - I love the look.

DAY 53 - Walking AND Working Out?

I'm proud of myself when I just get my daily walk in - around the path I've shown here. BUT, i told you Colorado Springs is very HEALTH and Outdoors conscious, right? Well, another of the ways that shows is that along the miles and miles of walkways in The Springs are these stations, as shown in the photos. You are _supposed_ to stop and do additional exercise at each station. I've seen them in use several times but not by me!

DAY 52 - Russian Sage

This is one of my very favorite flowers. around here it is called 'Russian Sage' but not sure the actual name. I have some smaller ones in my yard but I can't wait until they are this big!

DAY 51 - What Will It Be?

This is a construction site right around the corner. It used to be landscaped beautifully with grass, plants, bushes, trees. Then they stripped it and now I'm eager to see what is coming!

Day 50 - AKA "the Walk"

I give up on getting these in the correct order - hope they give you some sense of our little section of North colorado Springs
