Day 49 - We're Going On A Walk

Looking for photos around Colorado Springs has proven more difficult than I thought it would be. my goal most days is to stay at home and the farthest I go is taking the dogs for a walk! So, here we go - When the dogs find me coming down the stairs with my walking shoes on OR if they see my daughter April with her walking shoes on, they start to dance. running, jumping and very excited barking begins. here is a small sample. and tomorrow - you'll go with me along the scenic walkways here in the Northern Part of Colorado Springs

DAY 48 - Acacia Park

Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs. This is the park with the Uncle Wilber fountain from earlier. it's a neat park  and usually very full at almost any time of day or night. Many city functions are held here also. Unfortunately, as you can see from the Police center here, it has also tended to be a problem spot - mostly with drugs - so they opened up a police post right there in the park!

Day 47 - PURPLE House

Day 46 - Uncle Wilber's Fountain

This is Uncle Wilber's Fountain from Acacia park in Downtown Colorado Springs.

Since its opening in 2001, the whimsical Uncle Wilber Fountain has entertained thousands of kids (and lots of adults, too!) with its delightful sculpture, 52 vertical pop jets, over 200 unpredictable streams of water, dozens of colorful fiber-optic lights, danceable scores, and a water-themed riddle that, when the fountain is on, is accessible only to those willing to "take the plunge" and venture beneath the waterfall cascading from Wilber's sky-blue dome.

DAY 45 - We Will Never Forget

Just  on my morning walk early today and shot these photos to prove that we will never forget - can you see the Yellow Ribbon tied around the tree in the first shot?

Day 44 - Doggie Poop Cans

Remember the lake?  Around that lake is a park and this is one of THREE Doggie Cans. They have a bag dispenser on top and receptacle on bottom. They are all over the parks in Colorado Springs. I don't usually see them so full, LOL, as they are emptied regularly, but this one had reached it's limit. I think it is very cool that the parks are equipped for puppies. I want to show you more of Colorado Springs. There are parks and walkways all over and each is usually equipped like this for puppies. This is the city's effort, I believe, to save some open green space because most neighborhoods have houses very close to gether.

DAY 43 - attempt at a 360 degree

This is my attempt to show you the whole scene from the boys' school. It sits at a very high point in the city and the views really are spectacular. I can't imagine, in this weather, a nicer place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Remind me of that when the wind blows so cold and snow whips across the bases in baseball season! But for now, it's gorgeous. I know some of the cool photo programs can stitch them together but I'm not that far advanced in my digital photo education.
